Mountain Biking
In the Summer time Winter Park Resort becomes Colorado's Favorite Mountain Biking Resort with 50 miles of lift-accessible single-track trails, a race series, a bike repair and rental shop, as well as a full staff of mountain bike instructors, patrollers, and mountain hosts. Hooking bikes on the Zephyr Express chairlift brings riders and their mountain bikes to a plethora of choices on the mountain's 50-mile, 15 trail network.
The on-mountain trail system is clearly marked similarly to ski runs: green is easier and still challenges novice riders, blue is more difficult, and black is most difficult. The trails crisscross cleared ski runs and zigzag through heavily forested areas, offering adrenaline-pumping downhill sections for speed junkies and thigh-burning uphills for those wanting to get a workout. Intermediates will love Upper Arapahoe, which is the resort's downhill race course. The Long Trail is the resort's longest, continuous trail--seven miles--offering novice riders an introduction to single track as they meander and explore the mountain. For the super aggressive cyclist, Winter Park's backside touts the Upper Roof of the Rockies, climbing to 11,200-ft. and offering spectacular views of the Continental Divide. This trail leads to Mountain Goat, a steep, technical test for the skilled rider.
